Terms of use

These terms cover the HAND-E software and this website, both provided by Bulut Solutions LLC, a company in New Jersey, USA ("we"). The HAND-E software runs on a board you already own, the Waveshare ESP32-S3-Touch-AMOLED-2.16; the board itself is not sold by us. Terms for buying a device will be published with ordering.

Buying a license

• Licenses are sold through Polar (Polar Software, Inc.), our merchant of record. Polar is the seller of record of your order: it takes the payment, charges sales tax where it applies, sends the receipt, and gives you your license key. Polar's own terms apply to the checkout, and Polar handles payment and billing questions. We provide the software, the license and support for HAND-E.
• A license is a one-time purchase. It has no subscription and does not expire.
• One license is for one board. If you have several boards, buy one license for each.

Refunds

• You can get a full refund within 14 days of your purchase if your license key has not been activated. Write to hello@handeos.com from the email address on the order, or ask Polar.
• We give full refunds only, not partial refunds.
• Nothing in these terms limits a refund or other right that the law where you live gives you and that cannot be waived.
• When a purchase is refunded or charged back, its license key is revoked. A board activated with it locks the next time it is online and checks its license (a board kept offline keeps working until then).

Your license

• A HAND-E license activates one device, identified by its Board ID.
• It lets you use the HAND-E home screen and the apps it offers on that device.
• We move or release a license only with confirmation from the email address on the order: we reply to that address and act only after you answer from it. The invoice PDF attached to Polar's order email helps us find your order, but it is not enough on its own. If you no longer have access to that email, first ask Polar's support to change the email address on your order (Polar is the seller and checks that you are the buyer), then write to us from the new address. If the email on your order was changed recently, we first write to the previous address as well and wait 2 days before we move the license, so a stolen mailbox cannot take it over quietly.
• If your board breaks or you replace it, write to hello@handeos.com from the email address on the order, with the Board ID of the new board. We confirm with you by email, then move the license to the new board. The old board stops working with it the next time it is online and checks its license (a board kept offline keeps working until then). A license can be moved at most once a year.
• If someone else linked your key to a board that is not yours, first replace your key in Polar's customer portal, then write to us from the email address on the order; after you confirm, we release the license from that board and you link it to yours with the new key (install HAND-E, or activate it if it already runs HAND-E). Replace the key first: otherwise the other person could link the old key again. This does not count as your once-a-year move.
• Keep your license key private. If you think someone else has it, replace it in Polar's customer portal, or write to us.

Updates and apps

HAND-E installs apps and updates from us only when you choose them. If an update is needed to fix a security problem, an app may ask you to install it before it continues. Apps and features can change over time.

Open-source software

HAND-E is built with open-source software, listed with its licenses on our open-source notices page. Those parts stay under their own licenses, and nothing in these terms limits the rights those licenses give you. That includes the right to modify HAND-E for your own use and to reverse-engineer it to debug such modifications, as the GNU LGPL allows.

Live data

GeoQuake and GeoMap show public data from the USGS and NOAA. It can be late, incomplete or wrong. Do not rely on HAND-E for safety decisions or emergency warnings.

Fair use

Do not try to break or overload our servers, get around license checks, or use HAND-E to harm others.

Liability

We work hard to keep HAND-E reliable, but the software is provided as it is, without promises beyond what the law requires. Nothing here limits rights you have under the law where you live.

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of New Jersey, USA, except where the law where you live gives you rights that cannot be changed by agreement.
